Welcome to the mat, welcome to your yoga practice. This is a yin yang asana class that focuses on cultivating truthfulness (satya) & substance. When someone is living their truth, there's a certain weight or heartiness to that person. There's a quality of stability about this person because they're living authentically, and we can often feel that. Truth carries weight, so for this reason we'll focus on getting grounded & creating stability within the lower body. It's my hope that as we get rooted, we'll get closer to our truth & develop the courage to stand within it, speak it and live it. Satya is one of the yamas from the eightfold path that's found within Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. There are five yamas in total, and the word yama translates to character-building/ethical observances, restraints, attitudes or behaviors that we want to cultivate within us, so we can apply & practice them out in the world. On the mat, I recommend having two blocks, a blanket or towel, and a bolster or hearty pillow to support your practice today. Thank you being here, now let's meet one another on the mat.
