Babies eating lemons are so funny! However, research shows that introducing babies to a variety of vegetables, flavors, and textures early on helps them develop a greater appreciation for food as adults. The efforts you make in the beginning to develop healthy eating habits matter! The first few months of solid foods are an exceptional opportunity to introduce babies to various tastes because they are more open to foods and flavors, including bitter and sour ones. (before they reach the picky-phase). Babies often make faces when they try these particular foods, even if they look really unhappy about it, and might even reject the food – keep offering it. Offering means actually putting it on their plate (not just asking if they would like it). They will decide whether to try or eat it, but they will eventually accept it after a few (or many) tries. Make sure to capture their best first taste and face impressions as they try the following:
sour: orange, lemon, lime, pineapple, plums, raspberries
bitter: broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, sprouts, spinach Of course remember not to force your baby to eat anything and to introduce new foods in size and texture safe.
